A variety of guided tours are available. These tours are guided by Sam Baloi, a freelance bird guide. Customers must have own transport and be able to accommodate Sam in their vehicle.

1. Bird Tour: Pafuri section of Kruger National Park

Luvhubu river bridge:
Birds you are likely to see include African Jacana, Pied Kingfisher, Barn European Swallow, Greater striped Swallow and Fish eagle.
Crook’s corner:
The confluence of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers is where 3 countries meet, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Come find out how this place got its famous name from. Often a gathering place of many hippos and crocodiles, as well as a variety of water birds like White- backed night Heron, African openbill, Plovers, Sandpipers and Fish eagle. Rare to see, but always a slight possibility is the African finfoot and Pel’s fishing owl. Another exciting sighting is the Collared Palm Thrush.
Pafuri picnic site:
An excellent birding area. Species include Black-throated Wattle-eye, African Yellow white-eye, Hornbills, Bee-eaters and a variety of water birds. The river at the picnic site is often the bathing spot for large herds of elephant.
2. Bird Tour: Golwe picnic site, Venda

A tour that takes you through the old Venda country side. At the picnic area you can expect to see special sightings of rare birds like the Narina trogon, African broad bill, Pink-throated twinspot and also the Green twinspot.
3. Sagole Big Tree tour

A circular drive through rural Venda to a magnificent baobab giant. Reported to be the biggest Baobab tree in Africa. Enroute you will see the Racket tail Roller and at the tree itself, Mottled Spinetail. Drive past hills dotted with baobab trees.
4. Musasana Tree, Gundani

Here you will see the miracle tree that changes colour to red, yellow and maroon, normally only found in Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Its bark is harvested and used for thatching of roofs.
Rare birds found in this spot include Crimson-breasted shrike, Southern Hyliota and Pink-throated Twinspot.
5. Mukuya Nature Reserve – Tiger fishing
±6 hour outing @ R700 ZAR
The guide will show you the best spots for fishing. Guests must have their own fishing rods, tackle and bait.
Birders can see a variety of water birds, Giant Kingfisher and on a very lucky outing the ever elusive Pel’s Fishing owl.
